Aiden hasn’t gain any weight since his one year old check up.
He’s still 25 pounds and pretty active.
Although there are things he doesn’t like, when we are willing to do it with him he will do it.
Like wearing hats (what a goofy smile)
He is still in his “what happened?” stage.
Continually asking until he gets an answer.
His biggest thing lately are pockets.
Instead of having us hold his toy, he will want us to help him put it in his pocket.
Sometimes I wonder what Aiden really picks up when I talk to him in the car.
But apparently, he does listen.
While we driving around, he pointed to the walls and said 樹藤(vine)
But sometimes he is such a loner.
Often times when I pick him up at school, I will see other kids playing but he will sit at the table by himself.
I don’t know if he’s just feeling tired or wants to take time to think or what.
It’s not like the other kids don’t want to play with him.
Everyone is always so nice to him.
One of the older girls always pulls out his chair and tells him to sit beside her.
But he’ll usually choose a seat far away from others – or where he is not asked to sit.
And a lot of kids will stop by to say “hi Aiden” when he arrives and “bye Aiden” when he leaves.
Today it was a short swing day.
As Aiden fell from the swings – head plop!
But he did not cry.
Up and off to elsewhere to play.
Aiden is sure growing up fast!
But he’s also very particular about many things.
Like sometimes he will throw a tiny tantrum to use the orange scissors instead of the red one.
So now we are going to limit the times where he has choices, as that behavior is not acceptable.
What has improved is when he is asked to wait.
One time during dinner time, he actually started counting by himself.
As that was one of the methods I told him he could use to calm himself down as he was waiting.
But any time there is improvement in something, there’s always something else to work at.
Aiden is looking forward to our next mini trip.
He can’t wait to go to the pool.
The last 2 trips to Vegas and San Diego we went to the pool, so when he saw the suitcase in the closet his mind immediately jumped to swimming.
We also have Aiden reflecting upon what happened each time we put him in time out.
Most of the time he can tell us what he did wrong, but once in a while he doesn’t really have a clue.
But he always knows to say sorry and knows if he does it again he will be put in time out.
I don’t like to put him in time out when we go out though.
Sometimes I think he likes that – to go outside and stand for a moment.
I guess it depends on what kind of mood he is in.
He’s definitely more agreeable when he’s had good rest.
He also loves birdies.
One night after dinner, he kept looking and trying to talk to the birdies outside.
He definitely enjoys exploring.
Aiden’s latest thing: Aiden Lego Hands
At least that’s safer than scissors.
